Hope seen in DGA-AMPTP talks

Sources say an agreement may be near as talks continue between the Directors Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers for a new film and TV contract.

Both sides began meeting Wednesday and are continuing through the week until a tentative agreement is reached.

The current contract expires June 30. These early talks got under way last December and have been sporadically ongoing in an effort to reach agreement and stop any industry slowdown, which usually happens with the threat of a strike.
