Kervorkian picks suicide aid over Snyder

Talkshow producers have heard every explanation in the book on why someone couldn't make an appointment. However, producers at the Tom Snyder-hosted talker on CNBC may have heard the most unusual excuse: Assisting with a suicide.

Dr. Jack Kervorkian, a retired pathologist who has made a name for himself by helping terminally ill people commit suicide, was scheduled to appear on Tom Snyder's program last night.

But doctor's reps called a show producer on Wednesday say that he would not be able to make the program, though they offered no reason.

However, when staffers showed up for work yesterday, they found out Kervorkian is alleged to have assisted in the deaths of two cancer patients in California, allegedly Kervorkian's fifth and sixth assisted suicides this month.

According to a CNBC spokesman, the show was "scrambling to get him again" and hopes to book the doctor in the future, other suicides notwithstanding.
