PKE preps Atlanta murder telepic
Tokars, the wife of a prominent Atlanta municipal judge and attorney, was killed in November in front of her children.
Two business associates of her husband, Fredric Tokars, were subsequently arrested and charged with the murder, with authorities saying the woman was killed because she found information implicating her husband and his associates in illegal activities.
Tokars hasn't been indicted in relation to the case but has increasingly been the subject of suspicion and media attention, with a number of Atlanta reporters virtually camped outside his house. Not surprisingly, the story has also prompted the by-now familiar feeding frenzy among TV movie producers.
PKE will produce its version in association with Dick Lowry, who will direct, based on material being compiled by journalist Wendell Rawls, with whom PKE collaborated on its two Betty Broderick movies. Principals Tom Patchett and Ken Kaufman will serve as exec producers.
PKE recently produced the similarly themed miniseries "Telling Secrets," starring Cybill Shepherd and Ken Olin, for ABC.
