L.A. org sets Grammy week plans

The L.A. Grammy Host Committee plans a series of music-oriented events throughout the city for the week leading up to the 35th annual Grammy Awards, Feb. 24.

Events include a six-day film festival highlighting music-themed pix; a "Grammy L.A. Music Mecca" map, spotlighting music landmarks; a tour of the Capitol recording studios; and a Rhino Records-hosted "executive for a day" program for 20 students to learn about the biz.

Host committee's activities, chaired by Giant Records CEO Irving Azoff, will benefit two foundations run by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences: Grammy in the Schools, which promotes music education; and MusiCares, a health and human services program. A fundraiser for MusiCares honoring Natalie Cole will be Feb. 20 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
