DGA, AMPTP talks resume

Negotiators for the Directors Guild of America are due to go back to the bargaining table today with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers in an attempt to hash out a new film and TV contract agreement.

Both sides adjourned Dec. 18 after two weeks of meetings.

The current three-year contract expires June 30.

This stab at early talks was initiated by the AMPTP in an effort to stave off a work slowdown that usually precedes threat of a strike.

During the first round, sources say a number of rollbacks sought by the networks had proved to be one of the most contentious issues.

The DGA has said it will take the final offer from producers to this Saturday's national board meet in L.A., whether or not it's an offer the Guild will accept.

If the national board rejects the offer, talks may be put off until April or May.
