Par names Levine production VP

In anticipation of their ramped-up movie production schedule, Paramount Pictures has hired Tom Levine as a production veep for the Motion Picture Group, sources confirmed yesterday.

Levine, who is currently Largo Entertainment's VP, office of the chairman, will move into his new position early next month and will report to Motion Picture Group production prez John Goldwyn.

Levine will be involved in the acquisition, development and supervision of motion pictures for Par.

"The reason I wanted to hire him was because he was extremely well recommended by a number of high-level people and his experience both at Carolco and Largo gave made him very attractive," Goldwyn said. "I like his background. He comes with a lot of strong talent relationships."

Reached at his office yesterday, Levine said, "I'm very excited about making a home at Paramount. I look forward to working with John, Sherry and the rest of the Paramount team."

Before joining Largo, Levine was a VP, corporate development, at Carolco and before that was an entertainment securities analyst at Argus Research in New York.
