'Mr. Baseball' video bow scheduled for March

MCA/Universal Home Video has set March 17 for the homevid bow of Tom Selleck's "Mr. Baseball," the story of a former big leaguer who has to adjust after being traded to Japan. The release will coincide with major league baseball's spring training sessions.

The release will be supported with a "Lead The League" pre-pack. Each six-unit order will come with an official "Mr. Baseball" uniform jersey and cap, plus an "All-Time Baseball Greats Collector's Kit," with an estimated retail value of $ 75.

Also out on that date from MCA/Universal is "A Taste For Killing" ($ 89.98 suggested retail), a suspense thriller starring Michael Biehn, Jason Bateman and Henry Thomas.

For sell-through on March 17, MCA/Universal plans to release three more collections of "Casper The Ghost," priced at $ 9.98 suggested retail; and, all at $ 19.98 suggested retail, "Problem Child II,""Child's Play III,""The People Under The Stairs,""Basket Case 3: The Progeny" and "Fahrenheit 451."

At $ 14.98 suggested retail are "Jetsons: The Movie,""The Munster's Revenge" and "Q--The Winged Serpent."

MCA/Universal also announced that it will support the Feb. 3 sell-through release of "Fried Green Tomatoes" with a $ 3 rebate available to consumers who buy the release in conjunction with any of the following MCA sell-through titles: "Backdraft,""Beethoven,""Field Of Dreams,""The Glenn Miller Story, ""Kindergarten Cop,""Out of Africa,""Parenthood" or "Somewhere In Time."

The rebate offer is effective Feb. 1 through June 30, 1993.

FoxVideo has set March 3 for the release of "Laura," the 1944 film starring Clifton Webb, Gene Tierney, Vincent Price and Dana Andrews. The film noir thriller will be available at a $ 19.98 suggested retail.

Paramount Home Video has set March 10 for the homevid release of "Bebe's Kids." The cassette will also feature a seven-minute animated short, "Itsy Bitsy Spider."
