F.A. "Freddie" Young has been skedded to receive the International Achievement Award at the seventh annual American Society of Cinematographers Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography banquet, which will be held Feb. 21 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
An Oscar winner for "Lawrence of Arabia,""Dr. Zhivago" and "Ryan's Daughter," Young is best known for his work on wide-screen films photographed in 65mm format--the hallmark of his longtime collaboration with director David Lean.
Young's accolade marks the first time the ASC has given an award for International Achievement in Cinematography.
The ASC previously named Haskell Wexler as recipient of the 1993 ASC Lifetime Achievement Award.
