'92's pix: Putting it in gross terms

Aside from "Batman Returns" and "Home Alone 2," no other pic tallied rentals of $ 100 million.

However, in terms of grosses, several other pix also passed the $ 100 million mark: "Lethal Weapon 3" ($ 144.7 million), Disney's "Sister Act" ($ 139.5 million), Paramount's "Wayne's World" ($ 121.7 million), TriStar's "Basic Instinct" ($ 117.5 million) and Columbia's "A League of Their Own" ($ 107.2 million).

Three late-1991 releases went on to earn big money in 1992. Joining the $ 100 Million Gross Club were Paramount's release "The Addams Family," which grossed a total over 1991-92 of $ 113.5 million; TriStar's "Hook," with $ 120 million; and Disney's animated "Beauty and the Beast," which made a phenomenal $ 145 million, playing all the way into September.
