Julie Polkes steps in as Miramax director

Former Rogers & Cowan director of entertainment Julie Polkes has joined Miramax Films as director of West Coast and international publicity.

Though Polkes' title is newly created, she fills a void left by Claire Raskind, who ankled Miramax earlier this year to join Beverly Hills-based competitor Skouras Pictures Inc.

In her new post, Polkes will oversee Miramax's West Coast publicity efforts, as well as the development of campaigns for the company's newly minted international division. At R&C, Polkes worked on such films as "Johnny Suede, ""The Last of the Mohicans,""Little Man Tate" and "Hear My Song."
