"GMA" did a 4.7/20 for the week, 12% higher than the 4.2/18 earned by NBC's "Today" and 57% better than "CBS This Morning." Nonetheless, in the season-to-date statistics, "Today" and "GMA" are each averaging a 4.3/19.
"CBS This Morning," although third, performed 15% higher than the same time a year ago. Thus far in 1992, "GMA" has been the top-rated ayem fare in 34 of 47 weeks.
In the key morning demographic race, 18-49 adults, "GMA" is first only .1 rating point and two share points ahead of "Today.""CBS This Morning" is third.
NBC's "News at Sunrise" (2.0/18) was the highest-rated early morning news, outpacing ABC's "World News This Morning" (1.8/17) and CBS's "Morning News" (1.1 /10).
CBS had four of the top five daytime programs to win the week and continue holding the top spot for nearly 33/4 years. ABC was second, generating a 4.7/17, and NBC last with a 3.0/11. ABC, however, captures the top rung with women 18-49 , leading CBS by .6 and two share points. The numbers are virtually the same when viewed on a season-to-date basis.
CBS is also tops when only the daytime dramas are placed head to head, although--as with the household ratings--ABC does better in the all-important women 18-49demographic.
The children's race went to CBS for the week when viewed both as a programming block from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to noon. NBC was second , Fox third and ABC, beset with college football pre-emptions, was fourth. In the season-to-date picture, CBS is first, ABC second, NBC third and Fox fourth.
ABC's "Nightline" was the highest-rated program among the nets in late night, averaging a 5.4/15 for Tuesday through Friday. NBC's "Tonight" ended the session with a 4.5/14 average rating and CBS's "Crimetime After Primetime" rang in with a 2.9/9.
