Cabler editorials blast Kansas rep
Multimedia Cablevision has been running 100 30-second ads a day urging voters to dump Rep. Dan Glickman (D-Kan.) in favor of his opponent, state senator Eric Yost.
Glickman, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, is considered a friend of Hollywood in Congress, despite his vote in favor of the cable bill last week.
Multimedia's ads first appeared Monday and bashed Glickman for voting for the cable bill. The legislation became law after lawmakers overrode President Bush's veto.
The multisystem operator has since switched its editorials and is now claiming that Glickman has "lost touch" with voters. The new ads also claim that Glickman broke a pledge to serve only 12 years in Congress.
Glickman staff aide Kay Coles said yesterday the editorials are "clearly a result of Dan's vote on the cable bill," a claim that Multimedia officials have denied in Kansas newspaper reports.
Company officials could not be reached for comment.
