Veteran ABC News correspondent Tom Schell has been named director of communications for the Motion Picture Export Assn. of America's worldwide anti-piracy operations.

Schell, who worked for ABC for 28 years, will be based in the MPEAA offices in Sherman Oaks. He will report to William Baker, the org's honcho of worldwide anti-piracy efforts.

MPEAA topper Jack Valenti praised Schell, saying his "past focus on law enforcement issues and his extensive knowledge of the media will surely be a golden asset to our anti-piracy efforts."
