American Zoetrope ups Seldes to VP development
Seldes has "been essential in the development of all projects" at Zoetrope that are earmarked for Coppola to produce or direct, the filmmaker said in a statement.
She joined the company in July 1991, following a stint as director of development for Wilshire Court Prods. and three years as creative assistant to Oliver Stone.
Zoetrope development had been in hibernation following the financial troubles caused by "One From the Heart" and Coppola's creative focus on "The Godfather Part III."
However, the wing has been active recently with "Dracula," which Columbia will release Nov. 13; TriStar's recent "Wind"; and the upcoming Warner Bros. release "The Secret Garden," directed by Agnieszka Holland.
Currently, Seldes is helping to fine-tune novelist Maureen Freely's "The Stork Club," which was adapted by Carrie Fisher, and "Zoo Fantasy," which is being written by Jeff Moss. Both projects fall under Zoetrope's overall deal with Columbia Pictures, a pact inked roughly 18 months ago.
Also on Seldes' plate are a pair of co-productions to be distributed by Warner Bros.--screenwriter Frank Galati's "Pinocchio" with Jim Henson Prods. and Larry and Paul Barber's "Hoover" with Quincy Jones Entertainment.
