Levy Elektra's vice chairman

Aaron W. Levy was appointed vice chairman and chief operating officer of Elektra Entertainment yesterday, continuing the recent shakeup in the company's management operations.

Levy, formerly executive VP and chief financial officer at the label, will now oversee business affairs, and will continue to be responsible for all financial, administrative and business functions.

Levy also will continue to act as chief financial officer while the company determines whether it will seek a replacement.

Elektra recently laid off several promotion staffers and named former Charisma Records promotion topper Bob Catania as its new VP of promotion. Company is expected to name former U2 management executive Ellen Darst as its new marketing head shortly.

Levy joined Elektra in 1983, exiting Arista as senior VP finance.

He is currently exec VP and a director of the T.J. Martell Memorial Foundation, one of the music industry's leading charity organizations.
