Aussie thesp Hugo Weaving has boarded helmer Glendyn Ivin’s “The Last Ride.”

Pic, which will be shot on location in Australia, is an emotional road trip seen through the eyes of a young boy accompanying his father on the lam.

Pic is produced by Nicholas Cole and Antonia Barnard (“The Painted Veil”) and financed by Film Finance Corp. Australia, Film Victoria, South Australia Film Corp. and the Adelaide Film Festival.

Ivin previously won a Palme d’Or for his short film “Cracker Bag.”

ContentFilm Intl. is handling the pic’s sales at Cannes.
