De Bont's John Cusack starrer killed

Internationalmedia unplugs 'Stopping Power'

By ED MEZA

BERLIN -- Internationalmedia has cancelled the production of Jan De Bont's $40 million action thriller "Stopping Power" after losing funding from one of the pic's financial backers, the company reported Friday.

Pic, in which John Cusack was to star, was a co-production between Internationalmedia subsidiary Intermedia and German f/x house Action Concept and was set to start lensing shortly in Berlin.

Internationalmedia declined to say which of the film's financiers had pulled out, indicating that it would pursue legal recourse. A separate production subsidiary set up for the film, IM Stopping Power, has filed for insolvency as a result.

Internationalmedia said it was examining what financial consequences the film's cancellation would have on other company subsidiaries.
