ABC fixated on 'The Fixer'

Brian Grazer, Nevins on board to produce

ABC is fixed on "The Fixer," ordering a script -- with penalty -- about the most powerful woman in New York.

Imagine TV and 20th Century Fox TV are behind the project, which centers on a woman who discreetly solves the problems of Gotham's rich and powerful.

Russell Gewirtz, who wrote "Inside Man" for Imagine Entertainment, is attached to write and exec produce.

"The Fixer's" lead character even sounds very similar to Jodie Foster's role in "Inside Man"; in that case, Foster played Madeline White, a mysterious mediator at the center of a bank heist.

Also aboard to exec produce "The Fixer" are Imagine's Brian Grazer and Imagine TV prexy David Nevins, as well as InVenture Entertainment principal Daniel Rosenberg.

Gewirtz's credits also include the Alphabet's short-lived skein "Blind Justice," as well as the upcoming feature "Righteous Kill." For Imagine, he's also at work on an "Inside Man" sequel, and he worked on the script to the shingle's Eddie Murphy-Chris Rock vehicle about a heist at Trump Tower.

Imagine is off to a good start this development season, having also secured a series commitment at Fox for "The FBI."
